Showing Support for Hannah’s Heroes
In September 2019, JBS Australia’s Group Engineering Manager Neil Brereton and Group Safety Manager Mark Doe, bravely shaved their heads in support of Hannah’s Heroes.
Neil began participating in Hannah’s Heroes six years ago in honour of his niece Hannah Meeson, who was diagnosed with high-risk anaplastic medulloblastoma in 2012, aged 4. Since then, Hannah has had 31 sessions of radiation, 14 rounds of chemo, and has beaten brain cancer twice.
Team members at Wacol gathered together to host a morning tea in honour of Neil and Mark’s efforts and wore loud shirts to commemorate the event. Team members donated during the morning tea to reach the fundraising goals. In a heart-felt twist, team members auctioned off the opportunity to have their heads shaved with Primo’s Approved Supplier System Coordinator Maurice White, and Operations IT team member Rodney McLarty, shaving their heads in support.
On that day, the team managed to raise $450. Overall, Neil raised $6,133 USD, Mark raised $1,651 USD and Hannah’s Heroes raised $281,569, surpassing the $250,000 USD goal.
